The picture above is concept art of the hideous brand new (2007) concert hall by Vaksala square. It does not represent the activities of the square at all -- each day there are florists and greengrocers selling their goods on the square, and on weekends (predominantly Saturday mornings) there is usually a large flea market on the square. Vaksala square is also the scene for large markets held each year, sporting activities like the annual beach volley ball contest when truckloads of sand is spread on the paving stones. Also the setting for demonstrations and all-familiy activities during specific times of the year, Vaksala square is so much more than the abominable concert hall that looms over the square from the south west and which disrupts the view over the city from far away.
